A full nature immersion preschool and pre-K program for children, ages 3-6, which invites young learners to grow and thrive in the natural world.
Our simple daily rhythm for preschoolers includes child-led play and exploration, stories, songs, hands-on activities, and outdoor adventures at Maple Valley’s beautiful Lake Wilderness Arboretum. Our Mentors support holistic development by nurturing the whole child and celebrating creativity, curiosity, and self expression. As children discover the connections between themselves, one another, and nature, they will grow in compassion and community.
We shape our enrichment to meet the curiosities and learning styles of each child, ensuring they grow their knowledge and appreciation of nature as well as engage with developmentally appropriate and emergent learning invitations. Our pre-K program sets a strong foundation for future learning in both traditional and alternative settings, documented and assessed in a holistic way through the use of the WA Gold standard.
Focus and outcomes include:
-
Knowledge of Natural Systems and Environment
-
Alphabet Awareness and Knowledge
-
Social, Emotional, and Linguistic Expansion
-
Gross and Fine Motor Expansion
-
Math and Shape Expansion
Using an anti-bias and culturally-responsive approach, we aim to validate and celebrate our differences, similarities and universal connections to nature. Our goal is to guide and support your child in their holistic development and education while instilling a love of learning in and about Nature that is rooted in compassion.
Maple Seedlings helps children grow in many ways:
● Physically: by strengthening their immune system, sensory awareness, and motor skills through outdoor activities and challenges.
● Emotionally: by fostering their self-confidence, resilience, and empathy through nature connection and peer interaction.
● Socially: by enhancing their communication, cooperation, and leadership skills through group projects and games.
● Cognitively: by stimulating their imagination, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills through nature observation and inquiry.
● Creatively: by encouraging their expression, innovation, and artistry through nature art, crafts, and stories.
Maple Seedlings is more than just a nature-based preschool program: it is a magical adventure that will inspire your child to love and respect nature, themselves, and others.
