Marie & Patrick Metz
Farmers, Metz Meadows Owners
Located in the Upper Green River Valley Heritage Corridor, Metz Meadows is situated on 15 acres of mixed forest and pasture. Vast gardens, a budding food forest, a large pond, and several hundred chickens now dot the landscape. Marie and Patrick were married in a lovely, wandering ceremony on the farm in the summer of 2016. They devote their focus toward the holistic and natural raising of three beautiful children and increasing the ecological harmony on their little plot of paradise.
Patrick is a true local. He grew up and went to school in Kent and graduated from the University of Washington in 2006. He became interested in regenerative agriculture after reading Michael Pollan's "Omnivore's Dilemma" and hasn't looked back. He's an avid reader and audiobook listener with an insatiable appetite for psychology, child development, parenting, permaculture, gardening, science, meditation, and all things agriculture.
Originally from France, Marie spent her childhood in many places including France, Minnesota, Great Britain and upstate New York before landing and planting roots in King County 12 years ago. She was raised and educated in the Waldorf tradition and even undertook a year of the Waldorf teacher training program. She loves herbs, food preservation, cooking, decorating, knitting, and taking walks through the woods. Her care for the land and inhabited spaces shines through everything she does.
